FAQ

Slow Sex. Orgasmic Meditation. Living a turned-on life.

Invariably, eye brows are raised. I get that deer-in-the-headlights look from people when I say that I am a Slow Sex coach. And once the furrow in the forehead relaxes just a wee bit, intrigue surfaces. “You do what?…” Then, I smile. “Oh, let me tell you.”

Why sex?

After the blaze of initial attraction, sex somehow gets relegated to the back burner. We’re busy and we don’t make time for it. And if we do, it’s become a little bit…you know, ho hum. Predictable even. Or maybe we’ve just lost interest entirely. Our sexual desire seems to have taken a trip to Tahiti…with no promise of return. Yet our sex is the doorway to a world of immense sensation that nourishes us, fulfills us and gives us back our birthright of living in pleasure.

We start with sex because our genitals are capable of registering the highest levels of sensation. When we focus on sensation and listen to the subtle nuances of those messages being spoken by our bodies, we can transcend story. Story being the fabricated reality that we concoct in our heads. So through sensation we experience reality. Right here. Right now.

What is Slow Sex?

First of all, it’s not what you think. It’s not about having “slow” sex as opposed to “fast” sex.

Slow Sex is intimacy at the speed of connection and is comprised of three basic ingredients: simplicity, attention and desire. With Slow Sex, you learn how to use these three guiding principles in all areas of your life, ultimately improving how you communicate, increasing your capacity for sensation, and changing how you show up in the world for the better.

Slow Sex is about bringing mindfulness into every aspect of our daily lives; about living a life that’s in alignment with what we really want, a life that’s connected to our body. And it starts with your sexuality as the doorway to creating sustainable changes and thriving your life.

Do you coach clients on sex?

Yes and no. I am not a sex worker. This is not coaching about having sex. Yet sex and sexuality are topics that are welcome to the coaching conversation.

Society, in general, considers sex a taboo topic. If we talk about it, it’s in hushed tones or behind closed doors. Despite the fact that we are having sex and sexuality screamed at us through mainstream media: oozing out of our screens, dripping off the glossy pages of magazines and clearly evident through a robust porn industry. [My colleague, Candice Holdorf, wrote an enlightening exposé on our sexual shadow here.]

As a Slow Sex coach, I provide a clean, well-lit container for safe and open discussion around sex, sexuality, intimacy and connection. Essentially, it’s sex education for grown-ups. All the really yummy, juicy good stuff you always wanted to know.
